Wines of Italy: An In-depth 3 part exploration of Italian Wine

 Italy! The Land of the Vine, according to the ancient Greeks; nowhere else is  wine so closely intertwined with daily life in every village throughout the Italian peninsula - not even France. Nowhere else is there such a enormous array of excellent native grapes.

Beginning Sunday February 26, Sommelier Arnie Millan will be offering an in-depth look at Italian wine with three classes, each organized by region:


1. February 26th - The South (Campania, Sicilia, Puglia, Calabria, Sardegna, Basilicata)

2. March 4th - The Center (Toscana, Umbria, Lazio, Marche, Emilia-Romagna, Molise, Abruzzi)

3. March 11th - The North (Piemonte, Valle d'Aosta, Liguria, Lombardia, Veneto, Alto Aldige/Trentino, Friuli)

Each region, its history and wines, will be discussed in depth with up-to-date hand-outs. Each class will include tasting 8 regional wines. The classes begin each Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m.

The cost is $59 per person per class or $165 for the three class series.


The classes will be held on on Sundays, from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. in Esquin's upstairs classroom at 2700 4th Avenue South (98134). Free parking is available in Esquin's lot on the South end of the building.
