Wines of Italy: An In-depth 3 part exploration of Italian Wine

 Italy! The Land of the Vine, according to the ancient Greeks; nowhere else is  wine so closely intertwined with daily life in every village throughout the Italian peninsula - not even France. Nowhere else is there such a enormous array of excellent native grapes. Beginning Sunday February 26, Sommelier Arnie Millan will be offering an in-depth look at Italian wine with three classes, each organized by region: 1. February 26th - The South (Campania, Sicilia, Puglia, Calabria, Sardegna, Basilicata) 2. March 4th - The Center (Toscana, Umbria, Lazio, Marche, Emilia-Romagna, Molise, Abruzzi) 3. March 11th - The North (Piemonte, Valle d'Aosta, Liguria, Lombardia, Veneto, Alto Aldige/Trentino, Friuli) Each region, its history and wines, will be discussed in depth with up-to-date hand-outs. Each class will include tasting 8 regional wines. The classes begin each Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $59 per person per class or $165 for the three class series.

Hands-on cooking class IN ITALIAN

 The Seattle-Perugia Sister City Association is sponsoring a cooking class -- GIVEN IN ITALIAN -- with Anne Robichaud, a 40-year resident of Umbria, on Saturday, February 25.  Anne comes to the USA every year for classes and lectures; this year she'll be in Seattle for several days in late Feb. The second class, offered in Italian, is a great opportunity for students or those wanting to brush up on their language skills. The Feb. 25 event lasts 4 hours, cost is $85 per person, inclusive.
